A Fractal Gem for the New Year

... thought I'd get things started for the year with another fractal odyssey. The following slide-show is the result of 'tinkering' with ONE little ol' fractal. The possibilities are, by fractal definition, endless ...    ENJOY!

From canadadaPHOTOGRAPHY

p.s. For more information & additonal visuals about 'fractals' on this blog, type 'fractals' in the SEARCH box on the right ...

Here's an alternate 'viewing tablet'. I'm still TRYING to figure out which is the BEST of these video formats. No sooner do I figure one out with all the bells & whistles when they re-design it!!

Vimeo seems to have done just that since I last tried them out ....

Fall Colours 2009

... colours are splendid at the moment ...
a mini slide show follows...

Fun with Polaroids-!

... the walk-about ... VIDEO

NB: Dateline: Oct 22th, 2009: If you are seeing 'no video' or are receiving a 'jerky, jittery' video, don't despair. VIMEO is experiencing 'technical difficulties' ... I've been assured this will be 'fixed' in the next few days ... I'm leaving this video up 'as is' until the end of the month so they can perform their techno-magic. Will see where it's all at then (...geesh. comPUTahhhs...)

The summer of 2009 was lousy here, weather-wise. Fall has been better, but, even so, kinda pukey. There WERE, however, a few stellar days during September that kinda made one want to go SILLY!

Sooooooo, guess what?
Yup, I went on a short & silly 'walk-about'.

As you can see, there's nothing very SERIOUS here, nothing EARTH SHATTERING, BIG or BREAKING!! I is just offering a quiet little five minutes two-step shuffle between me, my Self and I.

... sometimes those really are the BEST moments ...

Toronto Fall 2009

Just spent four daze ZOOMING around Toronto, catching up with friends & places after 10 years ...

This wee soundless-slideshow documents several choice encounters with Toronto-centric 'time & space'.

It's a bit rough, but I think it does the trick.

Toronto is a great YOUNG metropolis, a very KEEN place. It's backbone WAS Anglo, but it's future is TOTALLY multi-cultural.

Perhaps that is why so much of the 'new' architecture is so splendidly STARK, and seemingly 'simple'.

Toronto presents itself INTERNATIONALLY as 'ethnic neutral'.

At the moment.

Oil + Soft PASTELS by mlh

'Dream Bug'

I mentioned earlier in the year that I would 'post' some of my pastel work. Here you go. These, and others, have been done over the course of 20 years, give or take. What follows is fairly representative. Again, there is a 'sampling' of both OIL & SOFT pastel. If you're interested in purchasing the original, (or photo reproduction), let me know. Also, in advance, I apologize for the watermarks in the centre, but I've HAD to do this cuz of 'copiers'... Sorry.

LAUNCH: Sunday, June 7th, 2009

Well-attended & graced by both a Federal MP AND local City Councilor, the 19th Annual Homer Watson Exhbition is now underway for the summer ... To see further examples of my pinhole works, please look at February & March 2008 posts on this blog ... and/or click on 'pinhole photography' in the sidebar ...

There is a great review by Robert Reid of the entire exhibit featured in The Kitchener Record - click here.

E
xcerpt follows: "
... 'Slooow Photography ... A Pinholer's Passion' consists of 22 photographs taken with various handmade pinhole cameras constructed from a small cardboard box and an assortment of product tins - pretzel, tea, coffee & shortbread. ... At a time when photography has been hijacked by computer and digital technology, Holton reminds us that, at its most basic, photography is a contemplative art form that relies on the source and sustainer of life -- the Sun."
