All in all, it's been a rather lame winter thus far in the Great White North .... still, periodically, there are moments of sheer bliss. The following shots were taken last Saturday. Six points for anyone who can name the location ...
It's not often that I promote 'other' artists/authors/activists, but effective of the beginning of this year, I have decided to do just that. First up is a very provocative 2 hour 'interview' with noted war-journalist and author, Christopher Hedges. This thoughtful fellow truly stands on the side of 'truth & justice'. Sit back, give it a listen: and then consider how YOU are helping to shape the future of this, our finite & beautiful planet. Happy New Year. :)
In the seven years that I've lived at the Lake House, I've seen the fox a grand total of THREE times. That's one wily creature considering that this is technically an 'urban' area! I know that it dens on the lakeside embankment twenty feet from the house - but other then that, not much to report. This oil painting is a homage to this beautiful critter. Elusive & magnificent. Signed & Dated on Reverse. Contact me, if interested in purchase. Framing, Shipping & Handling is extra.
Stumbled across this beautiful little film at the National Film Board. It's a charming tale of one small family's determination to meet up with legendary Canadian author, Farley Mowat. The footage is excellent and the tale very moving. You'll be swept away by their amazing canoe trip ACROSS CANADA from Alberta to Nova Scotia.
Wonderful opportunity to see select works of members of the Women's Art Association of Hamilton at The Women's Art Association of Canada in Toronto. Located in the heart of the City at Bloor & Avenue Road, this charming converted house-to-gallery is easy walking distance to trendy Yorkville, the Royal Ontario Museum, Gardiner Museum & the architecturally complex University of Toronto campus. Many fine eateries & pubs in the area. LOTS to see, do & consider. 'Celebrate Summer' & the WAAC 125th Birthday: make a day of it! Exhibit opens Saturday, August 6th, 1:30-4:30 and runs until August 30th. Admission FREE.
Busy Cumberland Avenue in Yorkville, stone's throw from gallery.
I have one older oil painting n this show: 'The Passage'. This work interprets my many good years of exploring the northern lake district of Georgian Bay, in Ontario, Canada.
An evening stroll to a classical music interlude became a heady ricochet lurch from one intoxicating plant to another. Within the Royal Botanical Gardens in Southern Ontario is Hendrie Park, a delight for all senses: sight, smell, touch, and even taste, with a tribute to medicinal and herbal plants ...
More then anything, attentive looking amplifies the incredible diversity.
June is a time of FULL ON bloom. Cascades of colour and WALLS of delicious smells.
